Recent events in and around Venezuela demand more scholarly and public attention to the country’s history and relevant related topics and themes. The online, peer-reviewed publication Age of Revolutions seeks contributions that explore histories of Venezuela and U.S.-Venezuelan relations, as well as broader topics, such as histories of other recent Trumpian “hot spots,” including Colombia, Cuba, and Greenland; historical precedents in place such as Panama and across the Caribbean; and various scholarly and thematic lenses, including Caribbean Studies; international law and legal studies; and anthropological, sociological, environmental, and historical studies of oil and resource extraction, militarism, oceans, and global trade infrastructure. We welcome contributions in Spanish or English, in scholarly or other formats, which can include multi-media contributions that document historical or current events or conceptualize them beyond scholarly production. Syllabi or reading lists for scholarly or public audiences are especially welcome.

Please submit proposals of 100–250 words describing the format and goals of your intended contribution; timeline for completion; and how the contribution relates to recent events in Venezuela as well as the concept of “revolution,” very broadly conceived. Note that final posts of a traditional format for Age of Revolutions are usually 1000–1500 words. We envision a collective, public conversation through the series.  No contributor is too “junior” or too “senior”; too “scholarly” or “un-scholarly.” Proposals and any questions should be directed to Amanda C. Waterhouse: awaterh2@nd.edu. Proposals will be accepted on a rolling basis but should be submitted by January 19, 2026, for full consideration, and we encourage timely submission to respond to the moment. The curated series is expected to be published through the spring and summer of 2026.
