“Revolutionary Material Cultures” CFP(osts) Deadline Extension

*****

We at Age of Revolutions are organizing a roundtable on the topic of material culture in the revolutionary era. As Michel-Rolph Trouillot notes, “history begins with bodies and artifacts,” but we too often forget to analyze the latter. For this series, we are calling for post proposals that examine the ways in which materials reflected revolutionary actions and ideas, as well as how materials shaped revolutionary processes and possibilities. Posts on any era and place related to revolution are welcome.

We’ve had considerable interest in the series and have decided to extend our CFP(osts) proposal deadline through November 15th, 2018. To date, we’ve accepted ten post proposals on topics ranging from the American Revolution to the twentieth-century Irish Revolution, as well as projects that illuminate topics related to political economy, trans-Atlantic trade, the age of slavery, and gender studies — to name just a few.

Proposals need only be a paragraph or so and should give the editorial board a general sense of the post you want to contribute. Proposals can be submitted below or via our “submissions” tab. Completed posts (~1,000-1,500 words) will be due January 31st, 2019.
